Scope and Content Postcards, arranged topographically.
Archive History The postcards were often mounted onto A4 card and arranged topographically in the Photographic Library. Periodically postcards were removed from public access (to help conserve them) though they remained in the same arrangement. Historically collections at RCAHMS have been arranged according to format and so all postcards were grouped together, regardless of provenance. 2018 saw collections reconstituted. This collection represents postcards that were bought at auction with the express purpose of being in an RCAHMS postcard collection or those whose original provenance is now unclear.
Access Conditions Open access but copies must be approved by the archivist.
Administrative History Over its lifespan RCAHMS collected postcards depicting historic buildings and places for use in its research.
