Scope and Content Temporary camp at Wooden Home Farm, Scottish Borders This Roman temporary camp is at Wooden Hill Farm. It was possibly a base for reconnaissance troops during the Agricolan period. This is an aerial view of the site. One long side can be seen as a cropmark, running across the centre of the image. Halfway along is a gateway protected by a tutulus. The defensive ditch was about 3.8 m wide and 1.0 m deep. The site was discovered through aerial photography in the early 1970s. It was confirmed as a Roman camp when a section was cut through the ditch of the SW side. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
