Remains of timber wharf or quay against stone wall, view from south east.

DP 241699

Description Remains of timber wharf or quay against stone wall, view from south east.

Date 29/8/2016

Collection Historic Environment Scotland

Catalogue Number DP 241699

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content This wharf would have been used to load and unload materials and goods. The whisky produced at Kennetpans Distillery and Kilbagie Distillery to the north would have been shipped out from this wharf. The timber quayside deck onto which cargo to be shipped in and out would have been stored is now gone. The piling formation is still visible, with rows of wooden piles designed to give maximum compressive strength.
