Copies WP 005505

Scope and Content This report describes the results of a desk study and walk-over study along the route of a proposed 400kw run-of-river hydro-electric scheme at Benmore, Glen Dochart, Stirlingshire. Previously recorded sites of archaeological or historical significance include an OS Crianlarich Fundamental Bench Mark, and a limekiln in a field to the north of Benmore Farmsteading. Other features identified during the field survey include possible remains of a small structure and two feld boundaries. It was recommended that the Fundamental Bench Mark be fenced off. If it is impossible to avoid demolishing part of the stone field wall, then it should be reinstated after completion of the project. Otherwise, potential damage to the archaeological record is likely to be minimal. The report consist of 7 pages. The survey was carried out by Scotia Archaeology at the request of ASH Design+Assessment.
