Scope and Content Temporary camps at Channelkirk, Scottish Borders These Roman temporary camps are at Channelkirk. Part of the larger camp is now built over by a church, manse and graveyard, though part of the rampart still remains as a low, stony scarp. The smaller camp is between the larger camp and the fort at Oxton. This is an aerial view of the larger camp. It shows the NW corner, with sections of the N and W sides. The corner can still be traced on the ground. The camps have been surveyed, and the position of the rest of the ramparts and the gateways is known. It is possible that the camps were used in the Severan campaigns. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
