Scope and Content Fortlet at Oxton, Scottish Borders This Roman fortlet is at Oxton. It was built alongside a stretch of Dere Street, the main Roman road in the area. The fort has several small annexes, and one very large one to the SE, running along the side of the old road. This is an aerial view of the site. The layout of the fort and its annexes can be seen as a series of crop marks. The fort itself can be seen to the right of centre, between the two roads. To its left is the largest of the annexes.
