Scope and Content Compositing. Intertype or 'hot metal' typesetting machine (USA, 1951) which set the type for the Blairgowrie Advertiser newspaper including advertisements. It uses a keyboard to set the text. Hot metal was the way of creating newspaper and bulk type (e.g. paperback books) prior to the introduction and take up of computer technology in the 1990s.
