Scope and Content Charles Laing and Son. Interior. Casting Process. Making up the mould. Andrew Laing, of Charles Laing and Son Ltd is a third generation brass and iron moulder. He is shoing the traditional process of green sand moulding and will illustrate through the manufacture of cast iron railings. The odd side or false cope is to help achieve the joint line/ half way mark for the railings to be cast. The odd side has been used for several batches and when this box completed the mould will be destroyed and the sand reused. The railing pattern is the R26 onion design and is for a project at Greenhill Place, Edinburgh. Andrew places the patterns into the mould. The patterns are now in place and the half mould box is placed on top ready for the next phase. Sound: sound Colour: colour Running Time: 2.00 mins
