Scope and Content This is a view of Morgan Court, 59-61 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh. This area has been completely redeveloped during the early 21st century with the building of the Scottish Parliament at the eastern end of Holyrood Road and Canongate, and subsequent associated infilling of gap sites created following demolition of various breweries along Holyrood Road. This range of flats, built in 1998 to designs by Ungless & Latimer Architects, fills the space between Slater's Steps and Hammermen's Entry. Like the other developments along Holyrood Road, the buildings conform to the long narrow burghage plots of the traditional Scottish burgh layout which can still be seen within the Canongate. It is faced in buff rusticated Fyfestone with thin bands of blue brick adding detail at ground and first floors and harled upper storeys in various colours (white, ochre and blue). There is a shop on the ground floor.
