Scope and Content This is a view of The Park, 85-91 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh. This area has been completely redeveloped during the early 21st century with the building of the Scottish Parliament at the eastern end of Holyrood Road and Canongate, and subsequent associated infilling of gap sites created following demolition of various breweries along Holyrood Road. This U-shaped range of flats encloses a landscaped courtyard and was designed by Campbell & Arnott Architects in association with Teague Homes, completed c.2001. Like the other developments along Holyrood Road, the buildings conform to the long narrow burghage plots of the traditional Scottish burgh layout which can still be seen within the Canongate. It is faced in light-coloured cast stone with harled sections on the side elevations. Each block has mono-pitched roofs and large glazed areas at attic level, with many flats having small balconies enclosed by steel railings. The central two-storeyed section contains offices.
