Scope and Content 3 photographs of mills sent to Donnachie by Aberdeen University press, the letter that accompanied the photographs is MS 7336/2 Photographs were accessioned in the file''Industrial Archaeology by J. Butt and I Donnachie'. 1. (Chapter 2, pic. 3) Cumloden Wauk Mill, Minnigaff, near Newton Stewart. The three storey granite, mill range is shown above. Spinning and weaving machinery for the manufacture of blankets was powered by an interal overshot water wheel. 2. The internal overshot water-wheel at Cumloden Wauk Mill. 3. Wauk Mill, Kirkcowan, built by the Milroys in 1821 and extended in 1835. Note the large attic and cast-iron window frames, typical of the period.
