Scope and Content The reverse of postcard contains a short letter by William Johnstone of 4 West Park, Wick, dated 22nd December 1949. 'Dear D. M, This is a stone I photographed in a church yard at Edderton Ross-shire. It is a pictish stone of about the seven or eight century, when the Abbey of Fearn was there. I think that the man on the horse is a symbol for a period of time and the cross over the circle is the earth sign. The other side has the usual interlaced ornament. The horse has a life like way as he steps, but with kind regards to all and a Happy Xmas, William Johnstone'.
