Administrative History In 1975, the newly formed Grampian Regional Council appointed Ian A G Shepherd to the new post of Regional Archaeologist. Shortly after, he began a programme of aerial reconnaissance in partnership with Ian B M Ralston, Lecturer in Geography/ Archaeology at the University of Aberdeen (1977-1985).
