Scope and Content Originally known as Kamesburgh, Port Bannatyne grew up as a fishing village to the north-west of the main town of Rothesay. However, during the 19th century, when Rothesay's popularity as a tourist destination and a pleasant place to live by the seaside was at its peak, the town stretched out to join up the coastal strip between Port Bannatyne in the north-west and Ascog in the south-east. During the mid-20th century, a series of small-scale local authority housing developments were built around Rothesay, during a period when upgrading living accommodation was going through a boom. This group of flats at 20A-G Marine Road benefits from its location overlooking the bay. Three entrances in the central three-storeyed block lead to flats in the adjoining two-storeyed blocks. The main frontage is partly faced with rough artificial stone blockwork to ground floor throughout and first floor to the right. The upper floors of the rest of the development has a beige roughcast covering.
