Scope and Content Fortlet and temporary camp at Wandel, South Lanarkshire This Roman fortlet and temporary camp are at Wandel. Both lie close to a Roman road (No 263). The fortlet is built on a low knoll. The temporary camp is on level ground just to the S of the fortlet. This is a plan showing the fortlet. It was trapezoidal in form and consisted of a single ditch that may have merged with the Roman road's drainage ditch. The fort was built only 3.4 m from the road. A short excavation was done on the fortlet in 1966, and work was done on the temporary camp in 1970. No datable finds were recovered. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
