Scope and Content Excavation archives comprise reports, colour slides, colour negatives and photographs. Notable recent projects include the rescue excavation of a site containing the well preserved remains of human settlements of Neolithic date at the Links of Notland, Westeray, Orkney (2007). Parts of the site were being rapidly exposed due to sand dune erosion and were deemed to be at risk from total destruction. The project was commissioned and funded by Historic Scotland and undertaken by Hazel Moore and Graeme Wilson. The investigation uncovered the remains of three stone walled buildings of a Bronze Age settlement and midden spreads and cultivated soils of an earlier date.
Archive History Reports and one full archive were deposited with RCAHMS on completion of the project.
System of Arrangement The collection is arranged by council area and project.
Access Conditions There are no restrictions upon access.
Administrative History EASE Archaeological Consultants began depositing with RCAHMS in 1994. Based at the Abbeymount Techbase on Easter Road, the company was founded and directed by Hazel Moore and Graeme Wilson. Deposits continued until 2007 focusing mainly on evaluations of the implications of coastal erosion on the cultural heritage of Shetland and Orkney.
