Description View of brick making area adjacent to Pan House, Mayfield Brickworks, Carluke. View of one of the three Bradley and Cravenstiff-plastic brickmaking machines during dismantling by scrap merchants. Pan Mill 2 is directly behind this machine. The hopper visible in this picture is fed by a conveyor running above it. This hopper drops ground blaes into the various mixers and then into the steel mould and brick press. This machine dates from around 1947/8.
