Scope and Content The collection consists of documentary archive from archaeological investigations, desk-based assessments, excavation, survey and standing building recording projects by Addyman Archaeology and its predecessors. Project archives comprise field notes and record sheets, reports, drawings and photographs. Older material is in physical formats: more recent in digital format.
Archive History Project reports and archives were first deposited by Addyman and Kay with RCAHMS in the 1990s. Archives continue to be deposited periodically on the completion of work by the company.

Administrative History Addyman Archaeology is an Edinburgh based commercial archaeology contractor. The unit was first established in 1996 as Addyman & Kay; this later became Addyman Associates and then Addyman Archaeology. The company is Edinburgh-based, but with staff in Glasgow, East Lothian and York. It carries out work across the whole of Scotland and northern England. With a specialism in standing building recording and interpretation, Addyman Archaeology frequently works in close association with the architectural practice Simpson & Brown.
