Scope and Content Primary site records for two connected sites, Muirfield and Annay Road, thought to lie at the extreme north end of the precinct of Melrose Abbey, and containing an area known in the 16th century as the Bakehouse Yard. The first records are of an archaeological excavation to elucidate features found during earlier exploratory trenching by Headland Archaeology, the second was a watching brief during construction of a drain. Both were in advance of a housing construction project at Muirfield. Indexes to the films and slides are located at the end of the site note-book.
