Scope and Content A variety of terraced houses and tenements were built along Rothesay's seafront during the 19th century. These range from the terraced whitewashed houses at 1, 2 and 3 Battery Place, with their bay windows to take advantage of the views and the light, to the yellow sandstone tenement at 4 Battery Place. Evidence of some of the decorative ironwork which is prevalent throughout Rothesay's townscape can be seen in the railings and gates.
