Scope and Content Cairn at Ri Cruin, Kilmartin, Argyll and Bute This cairn is situated in trees 200m south of Ri Cruin. It has been excavated on three occasions and three cists were found. None of these contained any grave goods. This view shows the cairn from the south-east. The southernmost cist can be seen on the left, just beyond the line of the kerb which surrounded the cairn. Above this cist are the slabs of a collapsed cist. The third cist was at the centre of the cairn. The cairn was excavated in 1870 by Dean Mapleton, in 1929 by JH Craw and by V Gordon Childe in 1936.
