Scope and Content Standing stones at Ballymeanoch, Argyll and Bute The Ballymeanoch group of standing stones is arranged in two almost-parallel rows of four and two stones apiece, aligned on a north-east to south-east axis. Just to the north-west of the group stood a monolith, perhaps an outlying stone to the setting. Around 40 plain cupmarks adorn the south-west face of this stone (second from the north in the group of four). The Kilmartin valley is particularly rich in standing stones and stone rings. The purpose of such monuments is unknown. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
