The incumbent of Hutton in 1898 mentions the tradition of a chapel at Carterton, and speaks of hewn stones being found built into a steading in a field called Chapel Park.

'Chapel, supposed site of' has been entered in the ONB and then deleted as 'Not for insertion on OS plans.'

There is not trace of this chapel, but the farmer knew of its existence, and when ploughing the field, he comes across a heavy concentration of stone in the area.
