(NS 444 517) Craignaught Hill near Neilston was in 1439 the scene of a conflict between the Stewarts and Boyds.

(NS 445 519) Boyd's Slack: This name applies to a slight opening or hollow near the N end of Craignaught Hill. A road or track formerly ran through it and over Craignaught Hill. Mr A Cochrane (of Grange) states that Sir Thomas Boyd is supposed to have been killed here, when returning with cattle which had been stolen from him, or which he had stolen from the Stewarts.
No further information could be obtained regarding this conflict.
