Activities

Field Visit (November 2022)

NJ 96518 13955 Visited during fieldwork by SCAPE. A stretch of over 22 anti tank cubes and an upside down pillbox south of the mouth of Blackdog burn. The location of the pillbox has been updated. This stretch of tank cubes much more visible in 2022 than when originally recorded. There are over 100 tank cubes visible north of burn.

Information from S. Boyd and J. Hambly - Scottish Coastal Archaeology and the Problem of Erosion (SCAPE).

Note (20 September 2022)

A pillbox, possibly a type 24, lies in the intertidal zone in an inverted position so only the floor and foundation pillars are visible on the most recent 25cm georeferenced aerial photography. This would suggest that the pillbox has fallen down an eroding dune into its current location.

Information from HES 20 September 2022
