Archaeology Notes

NO89SE 35 8985 9118 to 8988 9116

(Location cited as NO 899 913 and name as Muchalls Mill). Opened by the Aberdeen Rly. c. 1850 and rebuilt 1886 by A and W Smith, Glasgow. A 4-span viaduct with plate girders (formerly wooden trusses) supported on masonry piers.

This viaduct carries the Stonehaven - Aberdeen portion of the Edinburgh - Aberdeen main line over the Burn of Muchalls, close to the sea and to the E of Bridge of Muchalls village.
