(NO 5141 3624) Stone Coffins or Kistvaens found (NAT)

OS 6" map (1926)

Several cists formed of rough slabs have been found in a gravel mound, which appears artificial, at the E end of the Cur Hills. Mr Anderson (of Carlungie) says that as many as eight cists, all empty, have been found there.

Name Book 1858

The discovery and excavation of a burial in a sand-pit at Carlungie is noted by Taylor. Two skeletons were found - a re-burial of one of the cists found in the 19th century and published on the OS map (information from D B Taylor).

D B Taylor 1952
