World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (17 September 2013)

The drill hall recorded here by Osborne (2006) still survives. The front block is of two storeys and three bays, with a wide but low round-headed door. Behind is a six-bay hall.

In 1914 the hall was base for "C" Company, 4th battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers.

The building appears on the 3rd epoch 1:2500 map of the village (surveyed 1908) but not on the 2nd epoch (surveyed 1895).

The building is still in use as a community centre and has some 1960s additions.

Information from HS/RCAHMS World War One Audit Project (GJB) 17 September 2013.
