World War One Audit of Surviving Remains (17 September 2013)

A drill hall is marked on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th epoch OS 1:2500 maps of Kilmarnock, on the west side of John Finnie Street. It is possible that a two-storey three-bay building with crenulations’ and a central first-floor bow-window is the front block. The ground floor is in commercial use.

A project to characterise the quantity and quality of the Scottish resource of known surviving remains of the First World War. Carried out in partnership between Historic Scotland and RCAHMS.
