Note (1983)

Auchrannie NO 284 528 NO25SE 30

Cropmarks reveal the ditch of an earthwork cutting off a precipitous promontory 600m NNE of Auchrannie steading; the ditch is about 2.5m broad and the area that it defines measures 75m by at least 60m.

RCAHMS 1983.

Note (13 May 2015 - 18 May 2016)

The remains of a small fortification have been revealed by cropmarks on a promontory on the S side of the River Isla. Protected by steep slopes on the N and E, the approach from the SW is barred by a ditch some 2.5m in breadth, cutting of a triangular area measuring about 100m from NW to SE by at least 90m transversely (0.6ha). The position of the entrance is unknown, but it may be at the SE margin of the promontory, where a spur of the ditch turns S for a distance of some 15m. The interior is featureless.
