Description
This is the upper part of a cross-slab which is carved in relief on all four faces and the top within plain flat-band mouldings. Face A bears a ringed cross with wide arm pits, squared terminals and a six-cord ring. Within a plain flat-band moulding, the cross-head is carved with a central triple spiral, two-cord knotwork in the upper arm and three-cord knotwork in the side arms. Face B is carved with a pair of twisted snakes, and face C with a panel of diagonal key pattern and a central cruciform design of four spirals. Face D bears a squared key pattern, and the top face E is carved with a bar with handle-like ends, a roundel containing a triquetra knot, a roundel containing a cruciform design and two transverse bars.

NO 386 539 A Pictish cross fragment was found during digging a service trench in or near Kirriemuir Old Parish Kirk. The rectangular slab bears a ringed cross on the front, and key pattern and interlace on the rear; the edges are also decorated. Claimed as Treasure Trove (TT 58/99) and allocated to Angus Museums.

A fragment of a cross-slab (Kirriemuir no.18) was discovered in 1999 during renovation work at the rear of the church. On the face it bears a hollow-armed ring-headed cross; on the reverse a panel of spirals and key-pattern.
