Archaeology Notes

NJ72SW 195 7300 2288

This standing stone is situated immediately W of a minor public road 240m ENE of East Blairbowie farmsteading (NJ72SW 96). It measures 0.6m in breadth by 0.55m in thickness and rises to a pointed top at a height of 1.2m. The stone stands immediately SW of the site of a 19th-century farmsteading (NJ72SW 97) and about 50m SW of where an urn (NJ72SW 22) was found in 1846.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 19 March 1996.

Scheduled as 'East Blairbowie, standing stone 250m NE of... located on the grass verge between a minor public road and the fence line, at a height of 130m above sea level.'
