Gulley A looking east, showing (in foreground) the 1972 hand-tool excavation hole with charges set beneath the concretion beyond. The aim was to dislodge the boulder just beyond the scale, against which the charges were placed; the boulder was displaced but the concretion surrounding it was excessively disturbed, scattering (though not damaging) the contained artefacts. Scale: 1 foot.
