NJ 9388 1710 Chapel (NR) (Supposed site of).

OS 6" map, Aberdeenshire, 2nd ed., (1901).

'It is a well-known tradition that a chapel stood in this field previous to the Reformation. All remains of it have now disappeared and I have not been able to meet with any person who can point out the site of the Chapel. The enclosure is well known as Chapel Park.'

Name Book 1866.

There is no trace of any building at the site. No further information was obtained locally.

Visited by OS (EGC) 18 October 1961.

Nothing is visible survive of the chapel that is reported to have stood 130m SE of Muirton Home Farm. The recorded position, on a SW-facing slope in an arable field, corresponds with a natural rock outcrop which has been used as a dump for field clearance.

Visited by RCAHMS (JRS, IF), 5 November 1996.
