Publication Account (2008)

The Bourock Church of Scotland (fig 20) was finally opened in 1840, situated on a little knoll to the north of the Main Street, with Alexander Salmon as its minister... Barrhead was ripe for rebellion against the established order, and the Reverend Salmon supported the division in the church that followed. He and his congregation left the church and it was locked for the following seven years.

Information from The Scottish Burgh Survey, Historic Barrhead: Archaeology and Development’, (2008).
