Kintore School, from 1907. Grown along the main road, a fine example of the former Aberdeen County Council's commitment to education throughout this century. It began with an L-plan, two-storey schoolhouse in squared granite, with neat skewputs to gables and dormers, abutting a U-plan school, set with wings to the road. The south-school gable had a lofty main window set under a broad, depressed arch; the other gable, three plain windows. The area between was filled by flat-roofed block with parapet on a shallow corbel-course. Further along the road was a low, two-storey, post-war school with continuous glazing and two-tone granite, and, behind, the concrete and glass solution of the 1960s; replaced, 2005, by new school to serve the 700 new houses built 1999-2004.
