OS 6" map, (1959)
A Roman Catholic chapel, the font stone of which lay in one of the farm buildings in 1842. The Ordnance Survey Name Book (ONB, 1866) states that the site of the chapel can be traced distinctly over a slightly elevated piece of ground by the scatter of chips of building stone. It adds that two fonts are preserved in the parish, one used as a pig meal trough at Chapelton, and the other as a quenching tank at the Leslie smithy.
New Statistical Account (NSA) 1845; Name Book 1866.
There is no trace of this chapel, but the farmer at Chapelton has encountered the foundation stones whilst ploughing at the published site. Dedication and date not known. One of the font stones lies in the garden at Chapelton at NJ 5964 2387; the other is lost.
Visited by OS (NKB) 15 September 1967.
Nothing is visible of a chapel that stood about 160m SW of Chapelton farmsteading (NJ52SE 109), and its site lies in a cultivated field. Of two fonts reported from the chapel, one is lost, but the other lies next to a burn in the garden of Chapelton farmhouse (NJ 5964 2387).
