Prop of Ythsie, 1861-2; restored, 1992 Gordon District Council. Like a giant chesspiece abandoned in rolling farmland; to the Prime Minister, fourth Earl of Aberdeen, who become embroiled in the Crimean War. A square tower in coursed red
granite rising from a steeply battered lower stage to a corbelled parapet cut by a single deep crenel in each face.

(Name cited [incorrectly] as Hill of Ysthie). This monument to the memory of the Fourt Earl of Aberdeen, propritor of Ythsie, is situated in agricultural ground on the summit of the hill of the same name, at an altitude of 115m OD.
