Measurements: H 0.71m, W 0.38m

Stone type: granite

Place of discovery: NJ 8045 2485

Present location: built into the coping of the south wall of the kirkyard.

Evidence for discovery: first recorded in 1991.

Present condition: good.

Description

The slab is incised with a linear cross on a sunken triangular base, with lines radiating out from close to the angles of the cross.

Date: uncertain.

Archaeology Notes

NJ82SW 5.01 8045 2485

Not to be confused with Pictish symbol stone NJ82SW 4, or with cross-incised stone (NJ82SW 177) built into farm building at NJ 8038 2483.

(Location cited as NJ 804 248). Built into the coping of the south kirkyard wall is a rectangular slab of coarse-grained granite, 71cm by 37.5cm, incised in the middle with a cross flanked by four diagonal rays.
