This station was situated on the (Inverness-Aberdeen) main line of the Great North of Scotland Rly. and opened on 20 September 1854; it closed (at the opening of the Buchan branches) on 17 July 1861, being replaced by its successor (NJ81SE 48) about 400m further S.
