Inverurie Hospital, St James's Place, 1936, R Leslie Rollo. Splendid complex embodying most of the elements of the Modern Movement, from the open porch on the gatehouse, to the semi-round bays on the main block and the glazed corners on the casualty wing. Even the ancillary buildings are right, with an atrium to the boiler house and stucco on all, including the entrance walls. The Ashcroft Wing (1980s) with slated eaves and flat roof is a suitably sympathetic extension. Well-planned and exemplary.
