22 October 1880, ST CLAIR, 4 yrs old, of Glasgow, iron steamship, 67 tons, 12 crew, Master A. McCullum, Owner A. Ross, Glasgow, departed Glasgow for N. Uist, carrying general cargo and 10 passengers, wind ENE4, stranded, total loss, on a sunken rock called Roan Bogha, off Gunna Sound, Argyleshire.

ST CLAIR. Last Saturday night (23 October 1880), on a voyage from Tiree to Barra, stuck on a rock marked with a buoy, and sank in 15 minutes in deep water. The crew had barely enough time to escape in the boats and only had the clothes they had on.

Tobermory, Oct. 28, ST. CLAIR (s), reported by telegraph, Oct. 25, as having sunk after striking on a rock, steamed some distance after striking and went down in deep water. No part of her to be seen above water: even at low tide.
