Wide pier of dry, coursed sandstone boulders. Stone steps to E. 19th century central shelter wall on pier.
Limekilns was the medieval port for Dunfermline. It continued to be used as a commercial port until the mid 19th century when it was superseded by the improved harbour at Charlestown. (Historic Scotland)
