The church of Coull is said to be one of the three churches dedicated to St Nathalan after his return from Rome c. AD 450. The Kirk of Culain Marr was bestowed upon Arbroath Abbey in 1188-99.

A Jervise 1875-9.

The church of Coull was dedicated to St Brioch and belonged to Arbroath Abbey.

H Scott et al 1915-61.

St Nathlan who died in the 7th century founded the church at "Colle" which may be Coull or possibly the old church of Cowie.

1792; renovated 1876, 1644 Burgerhuys bell, mort-house.

G Hay 1957.

The present church and graveyard are still in use. No further information regarding the previous church.
