Scope and Content Denny Iron Works, Glasgow Road, Denny, Falkirk This shows part of the frontage of the foundry and engineering works, across the road from the office block. This is probably part of the original works of 1870, possibly the offices, judging by the ornamented doorway. This firm was primarily a maker of agricultural machinery, especially ploughs and Cambridge rollers, and also made iron and steel castings as engineering components, for, among others, J & T Boyd, textile machinery makers, Glasgow. The iron founding industry was a speciality of the south-east corner of Stirlingshire, with the towns of Larbert, Denny, Falkirk and Bonnybridge all having several firms engaged in this business. The Denny Iron Works was founded in 1870, and belonged to Cruikshank & Co Ltd. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
