Scope and Content 'Adam and Eve' gravestone, Torphichen churchyard, West Lothian This gravestone bears only the initials KB and MR, dated 1770. Carved on the upper part of this stone are a pair of dancing figures, perhaps representing Adam and Eve or simply two children. Above the figures is a grinning face or skull. The graveyards of Scotland are an important part of the cultural heritage of the country and can provide fascinating information for people interested in family or local history, as well as vernacular art.
