Scope and Content Clydebank shipyards, West Dunbartonshire Luftwaffe aerial photograph of Clydebank, taken during World War II. The main subject of this image is the John Brown & Company shipyard, where a large ship can be seen, jutting out beyond its fitting-out basin into the Clyde. The German Luftwaffe took aerial photographs of parts of Scotland throughout World War II. The photographs were used for intelligence work, such as selecting targets, assessing bombing accuracy and finding equipment and defensive positions. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
