Scope and Content Aboyne Station, Aberdeenshire This station was originally opened as the terminus of the Aboyne Extension Railway, a prolongation of the Deeside Railway, but was completely rebuilt in about 1900 in a baronial style, probably to serve commuter traffic. This view shows the station from the south west. Note that the station yard is being used by the buses which replaced rail services in 1966. This was one of a few stations on the Great North of Scotland system which were rebuilt at the turn of the century. Others included Elgin and Inverurie. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
