Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Sueno's Stone at Forres, Morayshire Sueno's Stone is a 7.6 ton slab of stone, probably from the coast at Covesea some 15 km away. One story is that the stone commemorate a major battle against Norse settlers from Orkney. Found buried in 1726, the stone is now covered by a glass case. This is the fourth of four panels and it shows the rout of the defeated army. The curved object is thought to be a bridge or canopy. Below are headless bodies and severed heads. The head in the frame probably represents the defeated leader. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
