Scope and Content The March Cairn, Priesthoulland, West Mainland, Shetland The March Cairn is near Priesthoulland, West Mainland. It is a square cairn edged with boulders which had probably been filled in with earth and stones when it stopped being used. This is a view of the cairn. It is 10m across and edged with large boulders. Tall pillar stones stand at the corners, and there is a large stone over the entrance to the tomb. It was possibly the burial place belonging to a small community. The cairn has been excavated. Finds consisted of two small sherds of pottery, two stone discs and a quartz tool. There was no trace of any burials. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
